or The Emperor)) |

painter, Guofang became a professional artist as late

City, which he depicts as a glamorous yet gloomy. |

The Emperor is
another hallmark Guofang painting that shows a small
child dressed in ancient costumes against the backdrop
of a huge throne chair. The intricate detailing of the
throne, the ancient costume and the superb lighting
conveyed by applying the Western fine art techniques
captures the imagination of the viewer and transports
them back to the ancient days of Chinese monarchy. |

On his inclination
for the Forbidden City as the primary theme of his paintings,
Jiang Guofang says, "It is my turn to divert the world's
attention to the ever-lasting grandeur and glory of
the Forbidden City. With my paintings, I intend to make
the world heritage better understood and appreciated
not only by Chinese today but also by people from all
over the world." He further elaborates,"My love of the
traditional culture naturally breeds an artistic urge
to pursue the oil painting art of the Forbidden City.
The Forbidden City often haunts me in my dreams." |
| |
The deft and
artistic strokes of Guofang's brushes have loving created
many court ladies in the settings of the Forbidden City
that include the empresses and princesses to concubines
and courtesans. Many believe that Guofang's style is
drawn fully from the artistic style of the famous Flemish
Renaissance maestro - Jan van Eyck (1385 - 14441). |
| |
Through unique
treatment of his paintings Guofang reflects the historical
leanings and the lofty spatial structures and exquisite
detailing creates a sense of drama with him role playing
as the director of a historical scene in excruciating
accuracy. |
